General Questions

What is ParishMart?

ParishMart is a purpose-driven digital marketplace that connects parishes, nonprofit causes, local businesses, and independent sellers with people who want to support their communities through everyday purchases and giving. Each transaction helps fund a parish, a local mission, or a cause, creating a virtuous cycle of community, faith, and commerce.

Legal & Compliance

Is ParishMart a nonprofit organization?

No. ParishMart is a private company that acts as a technology facilitator. We do not receive or hold gifts directly. Instead, we enable and process giving and transactions on behalf of verified organizations, under full legal and fiscal compliance.

What do I need to register a cause or parish?

If you represent a parish or nonprofit organization, you must provide a valid 501(c)(3) determination letter issued by the IRS. This allows your donors to receive tax-deductible receipts.

Does ParishMart issue tax-deductible receipts?

ParishMart itself does not issue tax receipts, but if the selected cause is a verified 501(c)(3), the platform will facilitate the generation of the receipt by that organization.

How is giving processed?

100% of your gift goes directly to the parish or cause you choose. Gifts are processed securely and separately from marketplace purchases. Currently, a platform fee of 5% + $0.80 is added to your gift and shown as a separate line before you pay (covers card processing fees, technology, and reporting).

Can I support causes outside the U.S.?

Yes, but funds can only be transferred to U.S.-based bank accounts. International causes must have a U.S. bank account to receive donations.

Will I receive giving reports?

Yes. All registered parishes and causes receive access to a real-time dashboard where they can:

  • Track orders and gifts
  • View transaction history
  • Download reports

Does ParishMart provide tax reporting forms?

Yes. If applicable based on annual earnings, ParishMart will issue 1099-NEC or 1099-K forms in compliance with IRS requirements.
